HELP FELLOW WATER-PEOPLE, HELP MAKE LCCSC BEAUTIFUL AND BE INVOLVED IN THE WATERFRONT COMMUNITY!!

LCCSC relies heavily on the skills, enthusiasm and time donated by the community. There is a lot of work to be done and volunteers do not have to have a great deal of sailing skills or experience.

ASSIST THE WATERFRONT COORDINATORS FROM 10-1 OR 1-4 ON THE WEEKEND AND EARN 2 HOURS FREE SAILING OR PADDLING OR SAIL THE SONAR FOR 1/2 PRICE FOR EACH SESSION YOU HELP!

2003: Taking a bigger step...specific needs:

1. Monthly motorboat maintenance person: help us keep our safety boats running smoothly and for as long as possible. We are working with our engine manufacturers to develop a maintenance schedule. You need to have some experience with outboard motors and a willingness to get a little dirty.
      2. Monthly landscape detailer: help us keep the site looking good and accessible by coming once a month to help mow and trim.

You know you will be making a difference to us, and to the kids and adults that come and sail and paddle at the Center. It is also a great way to learn some skills by doing them: for example a sailor who was interested in racing but never had, volunteered on the race committee of our JY regatta, learned tons and we hope to see him behind the line this year. We also had a new sailor consolidate her own skills by helping the Waterfront Coordinator on a busy weekend by checking people's boats for plugs, proper rigging etc. That was great for us and she definitely now knows how to rig a boat.

We are looking for people to help with the following tasks:

Race Committee (experienced and not)

Waterfront Coordinating (on busy midsummer weekends)

Boat Maintenance (we are particularly desperate for help here because of the cost of a pro)

Building Projects/Facility Upgrading: usually basic carpentry

Open House and Special Event setup

Opening Season work parties: dates TBA, pull out and rig boats, put in docks

Closing Season work parties: dates TBA, pull out docks, de-rig boats

Promotions, Marketing (helping to man the UMall Boat Show booth...)

Fundraising/Grantwriting

If you or anyone you know may be interested in volunteering with us, please call or e-mail. Thank you, we can't do this without your help!
